Simple resturant at Mouzeuil St Martin (1 ½ miles). Good restaurant at Velluire (6 miles), further choice at Lucon or Fontenay le Comte (both 10 miles).

Beaches:
La Faute sur Mer (23 miles) - miles of golden sand, dunes, pine forests. La Tranche sur Mer (25 miles) - water sports, windsurfing, sailing (tuition), jet-skis, boat trips to the island of Re.

Holiday activities and places to visit:
Chateau de Terre Neuve, Fontenay le Comte (10 miles). 'Green Venice' - exploring the waterways by punt, at Velluire (6 miles), and at many other pretty villages within 30 minutes drive eg. Maillezais. La Rochelle (30 miles) - old port with street cafés and restaurants, excellent shops, huge aquarium, various museums - a great day out. The forest of Mervent (20 miles), lake, picturesque village of Vouvant, amusement park, zoo.
