Les Hirondelles

Les Hirondelles is a five bedroom property in the beautiful Vendee between Lucon and Fontenay-le-Comte and close to St Hermine. Downstairs there are two twin rooms and one double, one shower room and one bathroom. Upstairs are one double and one twin room with a chill out zone and another shower room.  The rest of the property comprises a living room and well equipped kitchen. Wifi and freesat TV with all the usual English channels are available.

Les Hirondelles started life a few hundred years ago. It has had a varied history starting as a protestant manse belonging to the church which is opposite.  At various times since then, it has been a hotel, a shop, and most recently a bar, restaurant and dance hall.

Gill and David the current owners, purchased the property in 2002 and have embarked on a sympathetic renovation project offering up to date facilities whilst retaining many rustic features.

The pool has been built in what used to be a cow shed but you will not have to share it!

In 2017 we started to welcome guests to our gite and received favourable feed back.

Les Hirondelles has five bedrooms and three bathrooms.

On the ground floor there are two twin rooms and one double, a shower room, separate WC and a bathroom with WC. Upstairs there is a further double, a twin and a shower room with WC.

The well equipped kitchen has dishwasher, toaster, Nespresso coffee machine, fridge freezer and large range cooker.  From the kitchen is a utility room with washing machine, microwave, another fridge and a wine cooler.

There is a large living area with table and chairs for ten and ample comfy seating.

Upstairs there is a ‘chill out’ zone with TV and built in DVD player. French and the usual free to air English channels are available.  Here is where you will be able to use the internet with unlimited fibre optic Wi-fi . and also a selection of games.

For your stay, we provide all your bed linen, towels and also swimming towels and tea towels.

Outside there is a heated swimming pool, large garden, mostly lawn, outside games including a table tennis table.

There is a large table and seating for ten with shade when necessary and also plenty of sun loungers.

If you like to barbeque, a charcoal one is provided for your use.

Around the garden there are some other seating areas for a quiet moment.

Les Hirondelles is located in the beautiful Vendee between Lucon, 30 minutes, and Fontenay-le-Comte, 20 minutes, and approximately nine kilometres from the small town of Ste Hermine, 10 minutes.

A bread van visits the village from Monday to Saturday in the late morning.

The international airports La Rochelle and Nantes are both approximately 1 hour away by car.

The closest Ferry is at St Malo, 3 hours drive, Calais is 6 hours drive.

We are in a small village opposite the church which has been recently renovated.

Behind the salle des fetes there is a boules court.

From the village there are plenty of opportunities for cycling and walking along county lanes.
